Free Song Download--Celeste--For You Donovan Fans
Tuesday, 12 February 2008

Here is the original demo for Celeste, which I wanted to use on Pop Down The Years, but the sound was just not up to par. I recorded it a while back, in my living room, live, just me & my guitar synth ... I still like it a lot, but in the studio, all the digital artifacts and noise were too evident and beyond repair. Nonetheless, at home ... I find it perfectly fine to listen to.

My gift to you fans of one of the great pop stars of all time. But won't you sign up up for the newsletter before you download it? You'll be happy you did!

Video for "Take Me Down"
Sunday, 10 February 2008

Well, as the release of Pop Down The Years approaches, I keep thinking about ways to share the music ... in hopes you will buy a copy on iTunes, or wherever! Here is a video I made from a horrendously bad - you know the kind that's so bad it's good - sci-fi movie from the sixties, probably financed by dentists in hopes they could bang a hot actress or two ...

See it on the front page or in the video section ... or ... sodden thought ... here:

Video for "Stay"
Saturday, 02 February 2008
I found Xavier on YouTube a while back. I was struck the abstract beauty and poetic simplicity of his videos. I wrote and asked him if he would consider making a video for one of my songs.

He replied and said, "Yes. For what song?"

I took many months to reply, working as I was on finishing the cd. There was never much doubt in my mind which song I thought Xavier would be perfect for. It was always "Stay." But "Stay" was one of the last songs we mixed.

About a month ago, I sent him a link to the newly mixed song. He replied and said he would like to do a video and asked what I had in mind. I said "Pink, Blue, Clouds."

I received the video today. All I can say is you never know what you are going to get from an artist. What he did was not what I expected at all, but it has so much more subtle power and beauty than what I had in mind ...

If you watch, and I of course hope you do, watch carefully. I will give you a hint: it's all about the birds at the beginning and the end. It's on the front page here, and in the video section, and on myspace.

And the two hands coming together, of course.

Did i mention the clouds?

Thank you, Xavier!

Enjoy.

Hitting the ground running - 2008
Thursday, 03 January 2008

We have set a February 14th release date—digital release, that is, iTunes and such—for the Last Unforetold Man album. We will be printing about a thousand copies for promotional use, and concert sales, as well.

Mixing progresses—tbe heat is on! We have a photoshoot scheduled for next weekend. Lining up models and so on. Taking care of last minute copyright and legal stuff. You know, the fun stuff.

We will be in the recording studio to redo some songs ... we have discovered that some source files are substandard. Just what we need 10 days before we have to hand off to the label.

This stuff happens for a reason. As stressful as it can get, I know deep down that we will come up with much better renditions of the songs as a result.

Pop Down The Years digital release Valentine's Day
Thursday, 27 December 2007

Hi all!

I think I forgot to mention that the name of the cd is now "Pop Down The Years." The cover we ended up with didn't fit the old name, Last Unforetold Man.

Thing progress amazingly on the finishing of the cd. Charles Stella is doing a simply amazing job mixing the songs, burnishing them like precious stones. I must be honest: I had no idea, before this, how much an "engineer" could bring to a piece of music. Of course, Charles is much more than an engineer!

When I originally wrote this piece, I had only received four songs from Charles, but now the cd is finished and will be on iTunes Valentine's Day.

Site To Launch November 10, 2007
Thursday, 08 November 2007

We are looking at a launch date of November tenth for this site.

Why?

Because it is my birthday!

But I don't really want to think about that, to tell the truth. Many more birthdays are on the way. Many have already occurred. So let us forget that part.

So I am trying to think of something special to do to inaugurate the site. Suggestions welcome. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Okay.

That's all for now.

Hey Little Earthgirl back from Charles

earthgirl.jpgThe arcane wizardry that goes into mixing a song properly will always be a source of wonderment for me. These mixing engineers are simply mad, insane, ass-over-tits bonkers, if you ask me.

But God bless them!

It is a rare and powerful magick they unleash
